This was my first introduction to the vastly simplified JS library bundling tool that seems to have been introduced around the Rails 7 timeframe. Instead of needing a JS runtime, NPM tooling and separate JS bundling/compliation steps (Webpack - again, urgh….), JS components are now managed with the simple importmap command and tooling.
